Frequently asked questions
Answers to common inquiries regarding the integrative hypnotherapy process.
What does hypnosis actually feel like?
Hypnosis is a state of deep physical relaxation combined with heightened mental focus. Most clients describe it as being similar to "highway hypnosis" (when you drive and realize you don’t remember the last five miles) or that peaceful state just before falling asleep. You remain fully aware and in control throughout the entire process.
Will I lose control or say something I don't want to?
Contrary to stage hypnosis portrayals, clinical hypnotherapy is a collaborative process. You cannot be "forced" to do or say anything that goes against your values or willpower. Your subconscious mind acts as a protective gatekeeper; if a suggestion doesn't resonate with your goals, your mind will simply ignore it. You are always in control in a client centered practice.
Can I get "stuck" in hypnosis?
No. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that we all enter and exit daily, often multiple times a day. If the practitioner stopped speaking or an emergency occurred, you would either simply open your eyes and be fully alert, or drift into a brief, natural sleep and then wake up.
How many sessions will I need?
While some clients experience immediate shifts after a single Focused Session, lasting transformation is cumulative. Subconscious patterns are often built over years, and "re-wiring" them effectively usually takes a structured approach. This is why many practitioners recommend 4 to 8 sessions to ensure the new habits are deeply integrated.
What is the difference between hypnosis and meditation?
Meditation is often about clearing the mind and finding "stillness." Hypnotherapy is active. We use the relaxed state of hypnosis to perform specific work—reframing memories, releasing blockages, and installing new, supportive beliefs. Think of meditation as "resting the mind" and hypnotherapy as "upgrading the software."
Does hypnotherapy work for everyone?
Most people can be hypnotized, provided they are willing and have a basic ability to follow instructions. It is not a matter of "weak" or "strong" willpower; in fact, individuals with high intelligence and the ability to focus often make the best subjects. The only requirement is a genuine desire for change.
Is hypnotherapy scientifically proven?
Yes. Modern neuroscience uses fMRI scans to show that the brain actually functions differently during hypnosis. Areas of the brain associated with focus and emotional regulation become highly active, while the "critical factor" (the part of your brain that doubts or over-analyzes) softens, allowing for more direct communication with the subconscious.
What makes an "Integrative" approach different?
An integrative approach combines traditional hypnotherapy with other modalities like Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). This allows the practitioner to address the issue from multiple angles—mental, emotional, and somatic—rather than using a "one size fits all" script.
Will I be asleep or unconscious?
No. You will be in a state of "focused awareness." While your body may feel very heavy and relaxed, your mind remains alert. You will hear everything that is said and remember the experience clearly.
Can you make me do something against my will?
Absolutely not. Hypnosis is a state of consent. Your subconscious mind is highly protective and will automatically reject any suggestion that does not align with your core values or goals. You remain the "CEO" of your own mind throughout the process.
What if I have "secrets" I don’t want to share?
Hypnotherapy is not "truth serum." You are in full control of what you choose to share. In many cases, we can even work through "content-free" sessions where you process an emotion or event without having to describe the details out loud.
What if I’m "too analytical" to be hypnotized?
Being analytical is actually an asset. High intelligence and the ability to focus are the primary traits of a great hypnosis client. We don’t bypass your analytical mind; we simply give it a different task so your subconscious can do the heavy lifting.
How does this actually change my brain?
This work leverages Neuroplasticity—the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. By entering a hypnotic state, we "soften" the old, rigid pathways and use focused suggestion to begin building new, more supportive ones.
Is this just "Positive Thinking"?
No. Positive thinking happens in the conscious mind, which is only about 5-10% of your mental power. Hypnotherapy targets the other 90-95%—the subconscious—where your automated habits, emotional triggers, and deep-seated beliefs actually live.
Why should I choose a bundle instead of pay-per-session?
Transformation is a process, not a "one-and-done" event.
-
Momentum: Bundles ensure we have a structured arc of growth, preventing the "stop-start" cycle that often happens with single sessions.
-
Integration: Multi-session paths include custom recordings and between-session support, which are vital for anchoring the work.
-
Value: Bundles offer a significantly lower per-session rate (up to $55 in savings per session) compared to the individual "Focused Session" rate.
What happens if I feel "fixed" after only two sessions?
It is common to feel a massive shift early on. However, we use the remaining sessions in your Dedicated Development or Changing Chapters bundle to "stress-test" and solidify those changes. We move from solving the problem to optimizing your future, ensuring the results are permanent rather than temporary.
How often should I schedule my sessions?
For most clients, a cadence of once every 1–2 weeks is ideal. This provides enough time for the "subconscious homework" to integrate while keeping the momentum high. As you move into the latter half of an 8-session Enlightened Evolution path, we may move to once every 3 weeks to support long-term maintenance.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for my Discovery Session?
Simply arrive with an open mind and a clear idea of what you would like to change. It is helpful to be in a quiet space where you won't be interrupted. There is no need to "practice" being relaxed; that is my job to facilitate for you.
What happens if I fall asleep during the session?
If you drift into a light sleep, your subconscious mind still hears the suggestions. However, I will use "emerging techniques" to bring you back to a state of focused awareness, as the work is most effective when there is a bridge between the conscious and subconscious.
Is there anyone who shouldn't do hypnotherapy?
While hypnotherapy is safe for most, individuals with certain conditions like epilepsy, severe clinical psychosis, or any chronic or serious underlying health issues should consult their primary physician first. We will discuss your specific health history during the Discovery Session to ensure this is the right path for you.
Why the odd availability?
"My practice is born from a deep passion for human evolution, yet I believe that to serve others authentically, I must first honor my own foundation: my family. By prioritizing my roles as both a practitioner and a parent, I am able to bring my fullest, most present self to our sessions. I have intentionally opened my calendar during weekend hours to accommodate the busy lives of those I serve, ensuring that your journey of transformation doesn't have to compete with your weekday commitments. As my own life expands, I look forward to expanding my availability alongside it."
